World record 4x100m Gold for Jamaica

August 22, 2008

Nesta Carter, Micheal Frater, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell teamed up to take the 4x100m relay in world record time giving Jamaica it’s 6th gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games. After the female team failed to bring the baton around the track safely all eyes were on the men to step up and perform and that is exactly what they did.

Nesta Carter ran aa excellent first leg before passing the baton to the reliable Michael Frater, who handed on to Usain “lightening” Bolt before Asafa Powell powered down the straight like a man on a mission to vitory. This latest medal brings Jamaica’s tally to 10 – 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze our best ever perfomance at the Olympic Games and we are in contention for more medals in the 4×400 relay finals which start tommorow.

I haven’t seen the race yet and I don’t mind finding out the results early, wish I could rewind the time so the ladies can get to do it again because I know they would win, it just hurts a bit knowing what took place. I’m pleased with Jamaica over all, we did extremely well and I’m happy that Asafa was the one to bring the baton to the finish line. We really did well! Congrats Jamaica :o )

Jamaica wasn’t the first to drop their baton and certainly won’t be the last. Nothing can overshadow the awesome performances by our athletes, not even a drop of a baton! I say to everyone, keep shinning, it is not over, it has only just began…you have set the stage and have given us, your fellow Jamaican a new sense of pride that is so needed. Eternal Father has truly blessed our land!
    A wol eepah luv.
