Usain Bolt is 100m World Record Holder
June 2, 2008
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is now the fastest man in the world after running a blistering 9.72 seconds to take the 100m crown in front of America’s Tyson Gay and over 6000 cheering fans at the Reebok Grand Prix at the Icahan Stadium in New York. Bold came to fame as a 200m runner but had recently been experimenting with running the 1oom event as well. His fastest time prior to the world record was 9.76 seconds run in front of his home crowd in Kingston only a few weeks ago.

Jamaica now has the two fastest 100 meter runners in the world in Bold and Asafa Powell. With great performances all round from both male and female athletes it seems that this year’s Olympic Game in Beijing China will be a very interesting one.
