Jamaica had record Tourist arrivals for first half of 2008

Tourism Minister Ed Bartletthas stated in a recent press conference that the first half of 2008 has been the best year for tourism in Jamaica ever despite a downturn in other Caribbean and regional destinations. For the first half of 2008 Jamaica played host to over 1 million tourists injecting over 1 billion US dollars into the economy of the country.

Tourism is one of Jamaica’s top forign exchange earners and these exceptional earnings and arrival figures from Winter season arrivals are set to continue throught the rest of the year.
