Jamaica in top 50 of 2008 Global Technology Report

In the latest Global Technology Report posted by the World Economic Forum Jamaica continues to rank in the top 50 nations out of the 127 ranked this year. Jamaica is ranked at 46 above more developed countries from Europe like Poland and Greece and above Caribbean neighbours like Trinidad and Tobago.

The top ten nations according to the Global Information Technology Report 2007-2008 are:

  1. Denmark
  2. Sweden
  3. Switzerland
  4. United States of America
  5. Singapore
  6. Finland
  7. Netherlands
  8. Iceland
  9. Korea
  10. Norway

    This ranking is very interesting in terms of Jamaica being in the top fifty countries of the Global Technology Report for 2008.But apparently, this is quite paradoxical,because even with such a ranking, the Jamaican economy is not being transformed into an economy realizing or experiencing any real sense of growth and development.
