The national stadium was swarming with representatives from every major international press outlet all keen to cover the exploits of Jamaica’s future athletes. With Jamaica announcing louder than ever their arrival as the top sprinting nation in the world at the Beijing Olympic games last year all eyes were on the championships which were produced the likes of double individual world record holder Usain Bolt, 100m Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Frasier, 200m world and Olympic Champion Veronica Campbell-Brown and many other athletic stars for Jamaica for 99 years now. With spotlight on Jamaica and the 100th anniversary of the staging of the High School athletic champions next year things will only get bigger and better.

It was totally AWESOME to be at the National Stadium on saturday for the staging of the 99th Boys & Girls Championship “Champs”. It was really fantastic to see our future olympicans in action, with a capacity crowd of over 30000 plus spectators at hand to witness this great spectacle.
The boys and girls fought very hard to give their respective school points….Congrats to KC a job well done and a galant effort made by the GREAT Calabar “RABALAC”, congrats to them as well…and to all the schools that took part in the championship.
I think now the world at large (from the Int’l press that was present) will see that last year in Beijing was no fluke at all and it was the real thing….natural talent plus hard work and dedication. WE SAY NO TO DRUGS……only yes to YAM, DASHEEN, BANANA, FLOUR & CORNMEAL DUMPLIN.

I think this champs was a very good one, unfortunately KC won. Big up to the best school in the world JAMAICA COLLEGE we finished third. We are coming for revenge next year when we get some more runners, I was disappointed that CALABAR beat the purple out of that North Street based school but that’s life you win some and you lose some.

True Blue always in the runnings…I am awe inspired that school spirit the Jamaicans show is transcended onto the international stage and keeping alive the pride that has made Jamaican Athletics a phenomenon…from my days repping Vaz to J.C. I am proud to have these experiences as staples in my life as a Jamaica…PS Big up to Colour Red.
