Boys’ & Girls’ Champs 2009 Results

Holmwood Technical High School and Kingston College emerged as the boys and girls championships winners respectively. Holmwood outpaced the competition on the girls side almost doubling the scores of their nearest competitors Vere Technical High School while Kingston college barely survived a last day surge from pre champs favorites Calabar High School.

Kingston College School Crest

The national stadium was swarming with representatives from every major international press outlet all keen to cover the exploits of Jamaica’s future athletes. With Jamaica announcing louder than ever their arrival as the top sprinting nation in the world at the Beijing Olympic games last year all eyes were on the championships which were produced the likes of double individual world record holder Usain Bolt, 100m Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Frasier, 200m world and Olympic Champion Veronica Campbell-Brown and many other athletic stars for Jamaica for 99 years now. With spotlight on Jamaica and the 100th anniversary of the staging of the High School athletic champions next year things will only get bigger and better.
