ISSA Jamaica Boys’ & Girls’ Champs 2007

The 2007 ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships at the National Stadium lived it to the excitement it provided in previous years with non stop action. After a few incidents mostly related to the hike in the prices for attending the event the championships continued to top the spectacle that was last year’s staging.

Records fell like raindrops throughout the championships, not only meet records, but even the National Junior 110m record was not spared a beating by KC’s Keiron Stewart and his 13.53 clocking. All three classes on the girls side of things saw clash after class especially in the sprints.

Congratulations to Calabar high School and Holmwood Technical High School on excellent victories this year. Judging by the performances of Jamaica’s young and upcoming athletes it seems Jamaica has many more years to reign as one of the top athletic countries in the world, we currently have the fastest man in the world wearing our colours but judging by these performances we are fully capable of lowering the mark in any track and field event again and again.
